9 Steps to Write Your Ultimate Home Page Headline

I’m not talking gimmicks. I’m not talking overhyped promises. I’m talking about a logical approach to writing headlines that will actually take you from [cliché alert] zero to hero in exactly 9 steps.

What are these 6 to 12 words? They’re the words that comprise your home page headline. David Ogilvy told us that 5 times as many people read the headline as the body copy. Robert Stone taught the same. So did Eugene Schwartz and Gary Bencivenga – both insanely brilliant marketers. A/B testers prove time and again that headlines are critical, as this headline test, which resulted in a 10.4% lift in conversion, showed. And every direct response and CRO copywriter has found this to be true: the first headline your visitor sees is the most important copy you’ll write...

NASA hopeful lawmakers will back commercial space plan | Spaceflight Now

NASA hopeful lawmakers will back commercial space plan | Spaceflight Now | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

The Obama administration has asked Congress for $830 million in fiscal 2013 to fund on-going development of new commercial manned spacecraft to ferry astronauts to and from the International Space Station. But NASA only got half of what it asked for in 2012, a cut that effectively pushed the first operational launch back one year to 2017, and program officials said Tuesday any similar cuts in 2013 and beyond could push the program to the brink of irrelevance.

That's because the space station is the primary destination for private-sector spacecraft and the government currently is committed to operating the lab complex only through 2020. While NASA and its partners hope to keep the station going beyond that, funding is not assured.

How Social Media Changed SEO

How Social Media Changed SEO | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

By David Amerland - http://bit.ly/x32n5m

@DavidAmerland

The impact of social media has changed the way SEO is being conducted and webmasters now need to play catch up again.

The sure sign of a disruptive technology is that it changes everything in ways which are hard to anticipate and produces outcomes which are difficult to predict. Social media has been creeping upon us for some time but it is only this year that it has become so entangled with SEO as to now be an integral part of the way a site gets its content ranked and increases its traffic.

The socialisation of content which began with content sharing in Facebook has, with Google Plus, become an imperative. Whereas in the past a webmaster could get away with a good SEO strategy and a certain amount of automatic social bookmarking of content, these days, he faces the struggle to create content which is of sufficiently high quality to engage interest in social media networks and the pressure to get that content seen as widely as possible.

Social media has gone from being an adjunct to SEO which increased its effectiveness to the engine under the hood which drives some of its most basic functions and which, in addition, determines some of its forms. Continue ...

How to Convert a Facebook Personal Profile to a Fan Page

How to Convert a Facebook Personal Profile to a Fan Page | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

Maybe some of you have wondered whether this approach was possible and if so, how to go about it, here is the guide that should put you on the right track. [note MG]

After reading Mike Sansone’s blog about how he was inspired by my act to leave Facebook, but chose to convert his personal page to a fan page instead of deletion, I was inspired to create this how-to do it post. Facebook has what they call a “help section” on this, but as usual, it’s completely unhelpful. Before I dive into the few steps it takes to do this, see what you think (left):

So, as you can see, it never really answers the question on how to convert my personal account to a Facebook page. I don’t know about you but Help sections on websites that don’t actually answer the question, I find quite frustrating.

Anyway, enough of my rant, here’s how you do it

Social Business or Social Media: A Visual Perspective

Social Business or Social Media: A Visual Perspective | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

This article with infograph was written by by Tyrell Mara via maxOZ. The author has given us a beautiful visualization of a social business model.

What does a social business model look like, where each dept. of an organization is leveraging the social web, and social networks specific to their strategy?

The author has some questions for you and me:

**What makes sense about this social business model?

**What is missing, what should be added?

**Is there a specific area where you see value for yourself or your business?

**Where on this Social Business model does your organization currently operate?

The Queens of Hearts in Content Marketing and Social Media

The Queens of Hearts in Content Marketing and Social Media | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

Since I wrote my piece on storytelling in this space, I realize I was far from being original when choosing the title. Many have agreed content is king however I now realize that the crowning of the queen is a coveted spot with many claiming the position!

From my research, many of these bloggers make really good points and should be considered when thinking about blogging and content marketing.
