Who Really Gets People To Buy On Social Media Influencers or Early Adopters?

Who Really Gets People To Buy On Social Media Influencers or Early Adopters? | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it
According to findings of a new study by the Webby Awards, Social Media platforms really do allow people to influence the purchasing activities of their connections. The strategic question remains, however: who actually gets people to buy? Some social media experts say you must win the “influencers” to your cause and make them your advocates....

Social Content Marketing is no longer an Option.

Our web traffic will live or die on how well we engage in social media. Google Plus and Facebook and Twitter and Pinterest and YouTube and LinkedIn and Yelp are all part of our social sphere of influence.

Randi Thompson's curator insight, February 6, 2014 9:43 AM

Those are pretty good numbers.  6 out of 10 people are not buying products because other people have shared them.  Who would have thought?

renata mello's curator insight, February 21, 2014 11:10 AM

Can we really influence people? Should we just listen to what they have to say and tell stories and ways to help them?

Why Thought Leaders Need Provocateurs

Why Thought Leaders Need Provocateurs | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

This piece was written by Andy Capaloff for Curatti
Collaboration across multiple skillsets is essential in any advancement, whether in the social sphere or in business.  Just as a good curator adds context related to their readership and an observation on the running of a small business can help take it to the next level, so input from people outside of the current thought leadership sphere can catapult conversations to new heights.

There are different types of smarts, and just because you may not feel that your writing matches up those involved in innovations that you are drawn to, does not mean that your input, providing a new angle, will not provide an ingredient that nobody even realized was missing.

Here are some highlights:
Technology and Social Media are branching out into many new forms at a rate few if any can keep up with.  Inevitably, natural selection comes into play, ensuring that even some of the best ideas barely see the light of day.

There is huge value in “multiple skillsets being employed in any process, with questions being asked by the non-experts or those with complementary skills”

There comes a point when a different viewpoint borne of different experiences and knowledge become essential to lift any great idea towards a new, far greater plateau

What Happens Every 60 Seconds In Social Media? [INFOGRAPHIC]

What Happens Every 60 Seconds In Social Media? [INFOGRAPHIC] | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it
Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest – What Happens Every 60 Seconds In Social Media?

Some very interesting information:

**Did you know that every 60 seconds Twitter sees (on average) 175,000 new tweets?

**Over that same time period, Pinterest receives 1,090 visitors

**LinkedIn absorbs 7,610 searches

**Flickr users upload 3,125 photos?

**If you think those numbers are impressive, how about this: each and every minute of the day, 700,000 messages are sent on Facebook

** two million videos are watched on YouTube.

What caught my attention - sometimes the comments are just as interesting if not more than the actual content itself:

****Sarah Upton says: February 28, 2012 at 11:23 pm - This is a comment from one of their readers:

Misleading and inaccurate.

You cite an article on Foursquare from AUGUST, then round DOWN. They get over five million check ins per day: http://mashable.com/2012/02/28/foursquare-hq-tour/ — so double what you’ve presented here.

Jumpstart was very apologetic and said they're trying to be as accurate as possible. Point being, these infographics are great to look at and give us an approximation of what's actually happening, trying to keep the facts straight, not an easy task for sure:-)

This data is courtesy of a new infographic from marketing consultancy firm Social Jumpstart, which takes a closer look and tries to be as accurate as possible at what happens in social media every 60 seconds.

Here is are a few highlights:

What is the real social mobile marketing Paradox?

The real social mobile marketing paradox is we don’t know what we don’t know.

Tools that currently feel like B2C company to consumer connection apps are undeniably powerful and their impact on Efficiency’s Irony and other logistics, distribution and marketing problems so new no “best practices” exist.

How this paradox unfolds will determine the Facebook, Google and Twitter of a new generation of innovators able to mesh powerful scaled systems together to create, distribute, publish and monetize our social mobile marketing paradox.

The Semantic Web is Hugely Important to Tomorrow's Business - Here's Why | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it
The "semantic Web" is hugely important to tomorrow's business. Do not underestimate its significance: It truly changes everything. Embrace it, or risk extinction. But what is it? And what does it mean for your business?

Add this to advances in context and authorship and the fun has already started.

How to Maximize the Reach of Your Posts on Social Networks

How to Maximize the Reach of Your Posts on Social Networks | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

This article and infographic was posted by Ted Nguyen for his blog.

Intro:

One of the most pressing questions whether you're new to social media or a social media maven is: What's the best way to post information or share content to optimize your reach

Compendium, a content marketing firm conducted a study of more than 200 companies to determine how social media professionals may optimize their engagement with both business-to-business-to-consumer conversations.

What they found is consistent with what Ted Nguyen has experienced and he has demonstrated that he clearly knows what he's doing

Here are some highlights:

"My experience in sharing more than 21,000 tweets and Facebook posts to my more than 82,000 Twitter followers and Facebook friends is consistent with the study’s findings"

.

**I recommend the hours between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Pacific Time) or 1 to 4 p.m. (Eastern Time) are the best times for Twitter and Facebook to optimize social engagement engagement.

**I find that tweets shared earlier in the week do better than those sent later in the week. I also have discovered that Facebook posts do best Wednesday early afternoon.

**if you look at Ted's social shares, they run around the clock. he tries his best to engage with people in real time or near real time.
