Web Publishing for All! Introducing Community Translator Tools | Blogs | WordPress | Blogging | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it
We're excited to announce new tools that help make WordPress even more accessible to people around the globe.

Roughly half of the content and traffic on the internet is in English1, yet English is the mother tongue of only about a quarter of internet users2, and less than 5% of the world’s population.3 We believe that WordPress.com should be for everyone, not just English speakers — it’s why we already serve WordPress in 131 languages — but we want to make it even more accessible.4

To keep so many languages up to date we need to make it radically easier for non-English speaking communities to help with translation. We’re proud to announce our latest step in that direction: the Community Translator.

Facebook Is Shutting Down Its API For Giving Your Friends’ Data To Apps | Privacy | BIG DATA | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

It was always kind of shady that Facebook let you volunteer your friends' status updates, check-ins, location, interests and more to third-party apps.

Overall, the changes could boost confidence in Facebook’s platform and the social network itself, which has struggled in the past with a reputation for spotty privacy. Cross says the conversion rate on people logging in with Facebook has increased 11 percent and believes this means “More people feel comfortable logging in with Facebook.”

· Owning Your Online Presence by setting security and privacy settings on websites to your comfort level for information sharing.

· Throwing Out Suspicious Links in emails, advertisements, social media posts and other communications.

· Being a Good Digital Citizen and posting only about others as you would have them post about you.
