The technical side of blogging can be very demanding, so the plugins really help. In addition to great content and SEO, I think you need an outreach/networking program.

Content Marketing Is Not As Simple As Writing A Ton of Blog Posts Every Day

Content Marketing Is Not As Simple As Writing A Ton of Blog Posts Every Day | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

The classic sales funnel has long been used to describe website development strategy.

However, the deployment of content marketing in a sales funnel with a campaign focus is a relatively new concept to many.

It’s not as simple as writing lots of blog posts every day and distributing them on social channels.

In fact, the goal of strategic content marketing should be to identify, qualify, segment, score and, ultimately, close leads in an accelerated and predictable fashion.

In order to strategically deploy content marketing it requires the right software, a defined sales funnel and a campaign structure.

Segments are usually FINANCIAL measures such as VIPs or "multi-buyers". Segments is one way to quantify groups within your marketing. Personas are another. Personas identify archetypes and group characteristics (instead of financial segments). Personas help develop creative segments make sure you make money.

How to Setup a Wordpress Blog in 5 Minutes

How to Setup a Wordpress Blog in 5 Minutes | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

I started my blog using WordPress and I have found it a platform that makes it easy to own and publish your own content online.

It is the foundation to the success of this blog which currently receives over 300,000 hits per month.

If you’re looking for an easy way to create a web presence and start sharing your ideas online, the best way to do this is to create a blog. Millions of users around the world already express themselves and share their thoughts by means of their personal blogs.

The advantage of having your own WordPress blog that is self-hosted is that you own it.

It is good to have a Facebook “page” or a Tumblr blog but they are owned by someone else and you can have a web presence there but under their “Terms and Conditions” It is basically a rental.

How to Identify Relevant Online Influencers with These 3 Tools

How to Identify Relevant Online Influencers with These 3 Tools | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

This piece and infographic is from Adam Vincenzini on his blog.

I selected this article because it's another way for you to find key influencers and these tools will help to narrow your search

Here are some highlights:

Instead of focusing on the subjectivity of this process (and how this insight is deployed) Here's how you can use a combination of free tools to narrow your search.

Where do online influencers operate?

**They are active everywhere:

     Most popular are:

     blogs, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Online

     communities, discussion boards

Assumptions:

**Influencers are active on Twitter

**Influencers operate some for of blogging hub

Focus on the intelligence you can glean from Twitter initially then verify this initial sweep with blog (or relevant hub) data

The initial steps involve:

1. Search by keyword

2. Search by location

3 tools useful in the process: The first two you can also search by location:

**followerwonk.com - then run this through another influencer tool -

tweetlevel to give it even more relevance (this isn't fool proof)

**locafollow.com

**twingulate.com

There are more suggestions in this piece having said that:

**No matter how hard we try, a 100% fool proof influence rating is near on impossible because influence is not a science, it can't be.

** this can help narrow things down, significantly

Redesigning Your Blog to Drive Reader Behavior | Blogging and Content Creation | Social Media Consulting - Convince & Convert

Redesigning Your Blog to Drive Reader Behavior | Blogging and Content Creation | Social Media Consulting - Convince & Convert | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

Soon, you’ll be seeing an all-new version of Convince & Convert.

It’s undergoing a full makeover, led by the amazing Rafal Tomal from Copyblogger Media. We’re of course staying with the Genesis Framework that provides enormous customization capabilities with unmatched ease-of-use. Here’s an almost-ready preview:

The design is based on the new Streamline child theme that is successfully being used by Danny Brown of Jugnoo – who has forgotten more about blog optimization than I’ll ever know.

The Case for Redesign

Even though WordPress (especially with Genesis) is exceptionally easy to work with compared to old skool Web design days, it’s still a major undertaking. Lots of blogs out there rarely if ever change their look and layout. Why bother?

10 Rules For Writing A Compelling 'About Me' Page

10 Rules For Writing A Compelling 'About Me' Page | Latest Social Media News | Scoop.it

The advice from this post will give you some interesting insights to know how to write a compelling 'about me' page and bio for your website and online profiles. [mg]

Writing the perfect pitch and crafting a compelling bio is difficult. That’s why whole industries exist to enable us to tell our stories better. Copywriters, creative directors and brand strategists like me wouldn’t exist if it was easy to articulate the essence of what we do, and communicate how and why we do it.

There’s no way around it, you need to spend some serious time and energy on your about page, because it’s probably one of the most visited pages on your website.
